I’ve began my piano lessons at around 12 years old, but didn’t pick up a guitar until my brother did when he was 13 and I was 15… I’m pretty competitive! As he got better, I had to get just that much more ahead! He’s still a way better player than I am anyday, but he pushes me to be a musician apart from my competitive nature. I write songs in my room and play to an audience of one. Now I have a ton of journals full of poems, songs, and letters to humanity. I think it’s time to move past my bedroom now.
I am influenced by humanity itself. The flaws, the tones… the very beat of our hearts tell a story that we were meant for rhythm. Some of my favorite artists that I have found inspiration in are Conor Oberst from Bright Eyes, Elliot Smith, and lately Casey Crescenzo in The Dear Hunter. I enjoy music with a story to be told within it.
